Summary of the Case Study
The Frontline documentary on the prison state is a documentary that PBS organization
uses to present a right situation depicting the impacts that those under incarceration face and how
the state in which they are in incarcerates them. Furthermore, the documentary also reveals more
about the inequity that exists in the level of incarceration based on the socioeconomic scale.
These unequal distribution claims based on the socioeconomic scale can be substantiated by one
young woman who claims that poorer people on small issues are treated to have committed a
criminal offense. When the young, poor kids are in schools, their failure to attend class and the
small fights that are a normal thing with kids is usually treated on the basis of law with
immediate effect.
Challenges faced by individuals in incarcerations and recidivism rates
The documentary explains the financial constraints that young, poor people go through
while in incarceration whereby it shows that those young people send into the juvenile system

over one million dollars by the state of Kentucky. This expenditure indirectly affects the inmates
where the situation forces the state to spend the funding that was meant for drug rehabilitation
purposes, their education, and their mental care services to be diverted to other legal systems
