In discussions of monsters and horror, one controversial issue has been whether they exist or not
or whether it is our own love for fear and horror that leads us to believe in their existence. On
the one hand, Klosterman argues that zombies are a value stock. The more you fill them with
bullets, the more interesting they become. Mainstream interest in zombies has steadily risen over
the past 40 years. On the other hand, Davis contends that monsters which embody fears in
sensual forms are sometimes messiahs of consolation .Others even mention that we all are
mentally ill; those of us outside the asylum only hide it better. My own view is that monsters do
exist regardless of our psychological perceptions and that our psychological responses to them
bring about the variability in our perceptions regarding them as brought about by King, Davis
and Klosterman in their respective theories.
