Development of a one-year course

Tasks

1. The course shall be titled as “Post Graduate Certificate in Family

Medicine”, abbreviated as PGCFM.

The name of the specialty is Family Medicine, which is alternatively

known as General Practice in various other nomenclatures across

the world. The entry/admission criteria for the said post graduate

certificate are laid down as under:

i. MBBS as basic medical qualification, recognized by the

Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).

ii. House job from a PMDC recognized hospital with mandatory

rotation in medicine and surgery, or their allied specialties.

iii. At least one year experience after house job as a General

Practitioner, or a Family Physician, or in a hospital in any sub-

specialty.

iv. Passing the entrance examination for the course.

2. Constructs:

Constructs, as they pertain to assessment are a set of such vague

and non-formally defined ideas, notions and principles which are

analyzed from human and student behavior and their explanation is

derived from a number of theories of educational or psychological

nature [1].

3. The constructs which shall be assessed in the fifteen pros graduate

students entering the Post Graduate Certificate in Family Medicine

are as enlisted as follows:

That is, you may be tempted always to look for relationships that are statistically significant and believe they are valuable solely because of their significance. Although statistical hypothesis testing does help you evaluate claims, it is important to understand the limitations of statistical significance and to interpret the results within the context of the research and its pragmatic, “real world” application.As a scholar-practitioner, it is important for you to understand that just because a hypothesis test indicates a relationship exists between an intervention and an outcome, there is a difference between groups, or there is a correlation between two constructs, it does not always provide a default measure for its importance. Although relationships are significant, they can be very minute relationships, very small differences, or very weak correlations.
