Research Methodologies

Please, read the presentation and the writing should be based on the attached

presentation. So that the writing of the paragraphs should be according to all points

mentioned in the presentation. All points of the presentation must be covered while

writing the brief.

Write a 1500 word brief on research methods in health. You will need to discuss

quantitative and qualitative research methods, the differences between both

methodologies and give examples of how both methodologies could be used in

Health and Social Care research. You should also discuss the different stages of

study design and how they might differ between the two methodologies. Finally, you

should discuss research ethics, the importance of ethics in research and the different

ethical considerations made when designing research studies. Use appropriate

academic references to support your work. A minimum of 8 references is

required, Harvard referencing system.

- Accurate definition and description of Quantitative and Qualitative research

methodologies.

- A discussion of the differences between the two and

advantages/disadvantages of each.

- Relevant examples of the use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies in

health and social care research.

- A discussion of the different stages of study design and how they might differ

in quantitative and qualitative research.

- A discussion of research ethics, its importance and use when designing

research studies.

- Logical presentation, organisation and structure of written submission.

- Appropriate writing style (logical, fluent & concise), grammar, punctuation,

format, spelling, Harvard referencing.
