This assignment is focused on comparing and contrasting the quality in health care
versus a more traditional “business” field.
The organizations chosen for comparison in this regard are the following:
1. Healthcare organization:
Steward operates 36 community hospitals in ten states that employ
approximately 37,000 people and regularly receives top awards for quality and
safety. The Steward network includes more than 26 urgent care centers, 42
preferred skilled nursing facilities, substantial behavioral health services, over
7,300 beds under management, and more than 1.1 million covered lives through
the company’s managed care and health insurance services.

2. Traditional Business organization:
Taco Bell is an American chain of fast food restaurants based out of Irvine,
California and a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. The restaurants serve a variety
of Tex-Mex foods that include tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, novelty and
specialty items, and a variety of "value menu" items

Quality Assessment Techniques employed
The following quality assessment techniques were employed:
1. Personal visit: Abovementioned locations were visited personally to observe the
quality assurance processes and policies in force at both the locations.
2. Interviews: Interviews with the administrators, operational staff and random
patients/ customers were done to assess quality.
3. Literature review: A thorough review of literature was done with look out for
information available on the internet and other sources.
Assessment Outcomes
As a result of the assessment, a comparative analysis of the various features of quality
provision in business was done which is presented as follows under the suitable heads:
Method of Assessment of quality:
Salt Lake City Regional Medical Center:
Quality is assessed by the Salt Lake City Medical Center by a specialized mechanism
devised by the Clinical Quality Management department in the management of the
hospital. The department is properly staffed with Clinical Quality Analysts and Managers
who work dedicatedly to monitor and evaluate clinical quality.
