This week we explored the concept of Tokenization.  Three important protocols discussed were Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC), Policy-Backed Token (PBT) and Open Asset Protocol (OAP).  Compare and contrast these three protocols and explain which industries can benefit the most from each of these protocols. It is from this aspect that the concept of tokenization comes into focus. Tokenization identifies as replacing sensitive data with distinct unique symbols that negate the compromising of security (Díaz-Santiago et al., 2014). In this manner, the critical element of data is protected by converting it into a non-sensitive form, whose value is not exploitable. As such, the non-sensitive form of data is identified with a token Three notable protocols identify with tokenization. The first protocol, Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC), identifies with cryptographic computation, which bars different parties from attaining knowledge and thereby access to the other parties’ data (Huang, 2020). A notable example of an industry that embraces SMPC in its operations is the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) (Huang, 2020). In this industry, SMPC avails the avenue for computing data securely and privately without another party’s knowledge and thereby access. The second protocol identified under tokenization is Policy Backed Token (PBT). This protocol identifies with aspects resonating around private conservation of data (Roth et al., 2019). In this light, policies are enacted by different organizations, and when they are actualized, tokens are affected. A notable example of an industry that embraces PBT in its operations is crowdfunding (Roth et al., 2019). With the aid of the provisions and thus attributes of PBT, startup organizations can execute fundraising events The last protocol identified under tokenization is Open Asset Protocol (OAP). This protocol invokes Bitcoin Blockchain elements, where the issuance and transfer of user-generated assets are embraced (Li et al., 2019). In this light, the use of colored coins is identified where an issuer offers them in association with redeemable promises once predetermined terms are actualized (REF). A notable example of an industry that embraces OAP in its operations is the insurance industry (Li et al., 2019). In this industry, the colored coins are deemed transferable to different users with the same attached value. Reply to Post 2 Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC) is a cryptographic protocol that enables computation in different parties without exposing data of the connected systems to each party within the calculation (Zhao et al., 2019). In contrast, Policy-Backed Token (PBT) entails blockchain units of value pegged to real-world assets. On the other hand, the Open Asset Protocol (OAP) is a robust protocol built on top of the bitcoin block chain (Li et al., 2019, March). Many similarities exist between the three protocols. One of these similarities is that they all aim at connecting different parties and allow the effective sharing of information. Another similarity is that they are advancing with the changing technology. As technology grows, these protocols are reporting a successful advancement, which indicates an improvement in their applications. Furthermore, all these protocols aim to improve information security by providing a platform free from hackers' access. Despite these strong similarities, some differences exist between these protocols. One of the differences is that both the policy-Backed Token and Open Asset Protocol are applied in Bitcoin blockchain units while Security Multi-Party Computation is not. Another difference is that Security Multi-Party Computation ensures that there is no exposing of data between parties that are communicating, whereas other protocols do not. Without a doubt, a variety of industries will benefit from each of these protocols. For instance, the industries that can benefit much from Security Multi-Party Computation are financially based institutions. These institutions will be able to communicate easily with other institutions and may get into contracts with other firms without exposing their databases. The data analysis and data mining industries can also benefit from this protocol as it will protect their data exposure. The Policy-Backed Token protocol, on the other hand, will benefit a couple of industries. One of them is a financial institution such as a bank (Kaur & Oza, 2020). This protocol will ensure there is fairness, transparency, and efficiency in the financial world. Also, the protocol will be highly applied in Internet advertising, where tokens will be assigned to adverts, then displays will be done when the tokens have been activated. Lastly, the Open Asset Protocol will benefit the music and entertainment industries. The protocol will ease the access of entertainment facilities to a broad population, resulting in the industries' overall growth. Also, the stock trading industry will benefit from this protocol as it will ease the searching process, thus ensuring active trading.
