Working at Margaret N. Perry Children Center
I worked in Margaret N. Perry Children Center at The University of Tennessee (UT) for a short
while. Margaret N. Perry Children C enter is a part of the University and caters to the staff,
faculty, students and any associated stakeholders by providing day care services for their children
typically aged one and a half month to twelve years. As per needs of the service consumers, half
day as well as full day care is offered at the center. It is well staffed and supervised and also acts
as a training site for students of the concerned faculties at UT.
The time I worked there was one of the best times I spent at UT. The environment is very good for
children and for anyone who is visiting it; the place is very tidy, well-maintained and disciplined.
All the facilities are very well managed and the staff is really friendly with the children. All the
children attending the day care facility looked happy and I never saw a kid crying out for his or
her parents ever.
I used to go there in the morning, spend time with the kids mostly and see them playing and
having gossips. I interacted with kids of nearly all age groups and it was a different and unique
experience interacting with kids of various age groups under one roof. The best part was that with
the kids of each age group, I felt I am of the same age group. With the infants, I used to remember
the small babies I used to nurse at home. Infants had their own charm in looking after them. With
kids of the upper age groups, I felt nostalgic, remembering my own time when I was of their age;
carefree and playing non-stop.
The best part of my stay at Margaret N. Perry Children Center was the exposure I got into child
psychology which had always been my area of interest.
