AN REVIEW OF ADVANCED MATERIALS FOR AUTOMOTIVE
APPLICATION
M Tisza 2013 IOP Conf. Ser.: Mater. Sci. Eng. 47 012010.
M Tisza in the article titled “Advanced materials for automotive application in 2013
IOP Conference Series: Material Science and engineering has overviewed some
recent material developments from the viewpoint of automotive industry. In this paper,
the recent materials developments done as a result of demand challenges have been
overviewed from the point of view of the automotive industry. The author has shown
that the application of aluminum alloys in car manufacturing is rapidly increasing and
has introduced the multi-material car concept.
In this paper the recent development trends in sheet metal forming have been
overviewed from the point of view of material developments. Concerning the material
research and development, the increasing application of high strength steels, low
density aluminum alloys, as well as the so-called multi-material concept has been
emphasized. Among high strength steels both the so-called conventional high strength
materials (like HSLA, DualPhase, Complex Phase, and TRIP steels) have been
analyzed. Besides introducing the development trends in steel materials in the past
35-40 years, a special emphasis was given of the most recent developments in
Advanced High Strength Steels, as the Extra- and Ultra High Strength steels.
The researcher has presented data in the form of illustrations, figures and graphs to
support his point and has documented the calculations he has done as well. To
conclude , it is a well written articles with appropriate application.
