For patients admitted in the skilled nursing facility how does medication safety
education impact or reduce the risk of harm caused by medication errors over the
course of the patient’s admission (3-4 weeks).
Problem
Statement
Medication errors are one of the major concerns of healthcare professionals in today’s
world. Also, medication errors affect patient’s safety in skilled nursing facility
negatively related to their health.
Purpose
Statement
This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of medication safety education program
in reducing medication errors in a skilled nursing facility. Moreover, EHR is a
beneficial tool to take a patient’s treatment history, medication history, and illness
history. The use of EHR can minimize medication errors in terms of treating the
patients at the right time with the right medication and techniques. Also throughout the
patient’s admission in a skilled nursing facility, a medication safety education program
can facilitate the nursing professionals to monitor, and effectively communicate the
