Abstract
Domestic intelligence involves an array of activities engrossed on shielding America
from risks mostly of overseas origin. Focused on a narrow scale, it comprises the
counterterrorism work of the FBI with local regulation enforcement. On a broader scale,
nevertheless, it also includes a wider set of intellectual activities managed by the defense
secretary, National intelligence director, homeland security secretary, and attorney general. The
objective is to indeed integrate federal, local and state administrations, and, when suitable, the
private segment on a safe cooperative network to halt the country’s enemies beforehand they act.
Those enemies comprise groups and individuals trying to transport armaments of international
terrorists, mass destruction, narcotics traffickers, organized criminals, and nations that are
possibly working unaccompanied or in grouping against the interests of America. There are
many intelligence gathering disciplines via which American Intelligence Community amasses
intelligence to indeed support knowledgeable national security policymaking at the federal level
and possibly the distribution of strategic military and regulation enforcement capitals at the
nation’s local level. Therefore, this paper will discuss the limitations and capabilities of domestic
intelligence efforts in supporting the homeland security enterprise.
