GUIDE
Narrative Literature Review
A critical discussion of the effective delivery of a
pharmaceutical service
You are required to individually research and review the literature regarding an allocated
pharmacy service, in order to write a 2000 word literature review answering a pertinent
question related to the effectiveness of this pharmaceutical service.
You will be supported to complete this work with this guide, discussions, and support
sessions.
Scope and content
The purpose of the work is to offer individuals the opportunity to demonstrate their
understanding of the literature review process and the skills involved in written
communication about a complex area related to service delivery and pharmacy
management. This is a major piece of individual work and it is expected that the skills that
you develop as part of the process will be applied to the more extensive piece of research
work required for your final year project.
Points to Consider
The following are assessed in the coursework component of this project:
Produce a literature review on a defined topic which demonstrates a critical
evaluation of published works, the comprehensive use of literature sources and
knowledge of research methodology.
Explain how a range of management issues can impact on pharmacy practice and
patient care.
Pharmaceutical service allocation
You will be allocated ONE of seven services (see table below) as the focus for your
literature review.
