The topic of whales on the internet has taken the world by a storm. Notably, there are
passionate lovers and hater of this topic, which depends on the individual’s interests. The
formersliking of this topic is due to adventure such as ecotourism that it supports. On the
contrary, the latter’s disappointment is due to the interference with their business since they are
whale hunters. Ideally, this topic has been able to highlight the dangers of over whaling.
Actually, the humpback whales were near extinction in 1966 due to this behavior. It is only due
to the constructive efforts of the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling, which
banned their fishing in 1966, that they have been able to survive. Notably, social media such as
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram has a lot of content on whales. Similarly, the World Wide Web
and YouTube have an in-depth analysis and videos of whales. Facebook has various accounts
such as “Great Ocean Road Whales” and “Save The Whales CA.” Notably, these accounts can
provide an average whale lover with detail about them.
In terms of bias, whales are mostly treated as endangered species. Generally, most social
media groups inform people of the dangers of over-whaling and pollution on these creatures. In
this case, they advocate for alternative ways that communities living near the sea can benefit
from whales, such as through ecotourism. Ecotourism from a marine point of view occurs when
individuals visit oceans and seas that have whales in order to watch them play, hunt them, or
