Product Life Cycle Analysis
Introduction
Humans have a life cycles and that is reflected in many aspects of today’s reality, not just
in humans. When a product it also goes through a cycle with many stages. The four distinct
stages are introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. Every or most of products go through this
cycle, development to eventual removal from the market. Each stage requires different marketing
needs and different strategies are essential to ensure the products success. In this essay I will
analyze one of Apples most successful releases, the IPhone 7.
Current Position in Product Life Cycle
I believe the IPhone 7 has surpassed the introduction and growth stage, meaning it is in
the maturity phase. The iPhone 7 released September 2016 and is one of Apple’s top three best-
selling phone. During the maturity stage, the product is established, and the aim for the
manufacturer is now to maintain the market share they have built up. This time is probably the
most competitive for most products and businesses need to invest wisely in any marketing they
undertake. They also need to consider any product modifications or improvements to the
production process which might give them a competitive advantage (Living Better Media,
2016).
Apple is still successfully selling the iPhone 7 which leads me to believe that it has not
reached the decline stage yet. To avoid entering the decline stage, Apple has to come up with
marketing strategies to keep up with its competing companies. “The iPhone is the leader in the
mobile handset market with 56.8% of the market share, and Samsung in second place with
