"Ms. Underwood introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and
Commerce, and in addition to the Committees on Education and Labor, and Ways and Means, for a
period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions
as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned. To amend the Employee Retirement Income
Security Act of 1974, title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act, and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986
to require group health plans and health insurance issuers offering group or individual health insurance

without the imposition of cost sharing requirement, and for other purposes. This Act may be cited as the
“Chronic Condition Copay Elimination Act”.("Text - H.R.4457 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): Chronic
Condition Copay Elimination Act," 2019).
Having a nurse representative in congress gives us nurses a voice to be heard , not just on local level, but
beyond that .Like we are advocates for our patients , we need someone to advocate for us as well. It is
also great and inspiring to see how far nursing profession can go. I also think that government can
benefit for having a nurses in congress, since we are well known for strong skills like listening and
problem-solving.
