Crossing class lines- The New York Times
Introduction
The question of class disparities has been an issue that the human race has grappled with
from the point of civilization. The gap between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat has been with
the race, and so has the inequalities it comes with. Bridging the gap has been an issue for
humanity as the former seeks to keep it intact and the latter wish to join or replace the rich.
Interactions between the classes have therefore been strained and limited with proponents citing
a lack of shared interests or in some cases, an urge to retain the status quo.
Crossing class lines
The article named above was informed by the inequalities perpetrated due to the class
stratification. In appreciating that the gap needs to be reduced, strategies have been fronted to
attempt and fuse the two groups. The objective of the directive is to try and uplift the lower
classes to better economic standards, with the hope that the upper class will benefit from the
relationship (Alexander, 2014). The article focuses on a study carried out to establish the
willingness of members of the various groups to mingle with members of the other group.
The article reveals that members from a lower class background showed the inclination to
relate with members of their social class. Likewise, the rich people also tend to show affiliation
for the members of their class stratification. Interestingly, the article also reveals that an
interaction between the two classes often results in a breakdown of communication and in some
instances arguments and disagreements. Therefore, a hypothesis arrived at that relationship
between the diverse classes are highly improbable.
However, towards the end of the article, the authors suggest a formula that may work. In
