Introduction
Institutional discrimination in the criminal justice system has been said to be in existence.
Institutional discrimination is as a result of the failure of the criminal justice system to provide
the professional services to the people based on their ethnicity, color, and culture. It manifests
itself in the attitudes, processes and behavior that amount to discrimination through ignorance,
racist stereotyping, thoughtlessness and prejudice which is a disadvantage to the minority in a
population (Jon, 2017).
There has been complains about how the police deal with the ethnic minority in
the United States especially when it comes to the use of stop and search. There has also been
complains about how the judges and courts deal with the defendants belonging to the ethnic
minority groups and has in most cases escaped scrutiny. Many say that if one is black, the
criminal system treats you harshly than if one is white. Several cases of discrimination in the
criminal justice system have been reported over the past years.
Create a public information piece that conveys a central tenet regarding institutional
inequality
Many black Americans have been killed. All the Americans have focused on the harsh
treatment on the black community and a shockingly large number have been killed in encounters
with the police officers. A lot have suffered from racial discrimination that exists in the criminal
justice system. According to research almost all areas of criminal justice system which include
bail amounts, arrest rates, sentence lengths and the probation hearing outcomes do indicate racial
disparities (Andrew & Chris, 2015).
