Introduction
Many firms globally continue to face a myriad of problems and challenges in bid to meet
their objectives. In many times, the challenges that the organizations face impact the operations
and can have adverse effects on the productivity. The effects range from loss of customer
loyalty, reduction in the sales revenue to a decrease in the operating income. One such business
that is facing the challenge is the Toyota Motor Corporation that has had to recall millions of its
cars from the market back to production line (Liker & Ogden, 2011). To overcome the challenge
that relate to the operations of organizations, any other organization end up coming up with
operational improvement plans. The aim of having operations improvement plan is to be a
yardstick on the manner in which the organization can improve the operations mainly those that
relate to the particular operational problem hence achieve the goals set for the organization.
Operation improvement plan is made up of five basic elements and they include process
identification, improvement of the process, definition of problem statement, measurement
strategy. Leveraging on the different aspects of OIP, the paper seeks to define the existing
problem while explaining the recall crisis of Toyota. A brief description of the primary
challenges or problem chosen would be given. The analysis is backed up with the various models
that are acceptable within global business operations.
Problem Statement
Toyota Motor Corporation remains one of the leading and high revered manufacturer of
automobiles globally. At the moment, the company has its car sales in approximately 200
countries globally. The brand of the company is anchored on quality, durability and reliability.
