According to the post, Saint Paul’s medical supply company had a bad reputation because
of the overall lack of showing care while delivering services to the people and the company’s
slow response to the community. The community perception of a medical supply company is
shaped by issues of service delivery and cost of drugs or equipment. Maintaining a good image
for such a company is critical in saving lives. However, actions of a few bad characters in the
company or a single misstep can ruin the entire industry, sinking the company’s reputation. The
public image of the company suffers as individuals develop mistrust and lack confidence in it.
Medical supply companies have to note that their products are unique, indispensable, and
even life-saving. These companies have a societal role in creating high ideal standards that they
live up to in the community's eyes (Bogaert et al., 2018). Reputational issues and expectations
from the community prompt companies to interact with people to get their perspectives on how
best to be served. As mentioned, talking to individuals and listening to their needs make clients
happy as they feel that they care for them. Communication is an important tool for constructing
reputational discourses that are shaped mainly by perceptions of individuals or groups. The
confidence of the people towards the company matters a lot.
Additionally, community engagement is considered essential in achieving efficient and
high-quality care. Finding the best way to engage the members of the community the company is
serving will shape its activities. The company should look beyond its own interests and involve
the community to tailor its services based on community needs (Weger et al., 2018). High-
quality service delivery companies should be informed by values of efficiency, equitability, and
people. Indeed, adopting best practices, starting with employee behaviors and communication to
teaming up with the community, will guarantee the company’s success.
