Chill Pill Campaign Evaluation Outcome
The research paper pertains to the evaluation outcome of the advertisement of the Chill
Pill campaign undertaken in the Washington State. The Chill Pill Campaign is a public health
campaign designed at the level of Washington State, which derives its funding by the
Washington State’s Department of Health. The prime objective of the campaign is empowering
the populations to undertake the prophylaxis of HIV infection by the use of a pill which is
designated as a Pre-Exposure Prophylactic (PrEP) agent for HIV (Naswa & Marfatia, 2011). The
daily-use pill is designed to offer protection to those who are at a high risk of acquiring HIV
infection. The department of health claims that if used properly, the pill can reduce the chances
of acquiring HIV infection by as much as 92 % ("Chill Pill Resources: Washington State

The campaign was run as an online advertisement appearing on the social media
platforms Facebook and Instagram. Social media is known to be an effective platform for public
health campaigns (Giustini, Ali, Fraser, & Kamel Boulos, 2018). The outcome evaluation
(Fridrich, Jenny, & Bauer, 2015) of the Chill Pill campaign is done as effectiveness research by
describing the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the outcome evaluation process.
Objectives
The outcome evaluation of the Chill Pill project had the goal of determining the attitude
change which was brought about by the social media advertising campaign to promote the use of
PrEP amongst the target audience for prevention of HIV infections. The objectives of the
