The Body’s Response to the Entry of Foreign Objects
(Antigens)
The human body is always interacting with the outside world or the
environment, so it is possible to be attacked by microorganisms and viruses
that cause disease. But in reality the human body can still be healthy although
sometimes it can also become sick. This shows that humans have an immune
system (immunity) against infections
When there are microorganisms or viruses that enter the body. There are
several stages of human body defense, including:
1. Innate immunity
a. Barrier Defense
Barrier defenses prevent organisms from entering the body in the
form of:
1. Physical which consists of skin functions to prevent inflammatory
behavior after an injury or infection occurs

2. Mechanical in the form of ciliated epithelium found in the throat
serves to protect the inside of the body from dehydration and
damage, it also protects the body from infection with
microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria.
3. Chemistry, for example:
a. ) secretion of mucus, saliva, and tears that contain the
enzyme lysozyme with a function to hydrolyze the cell walls of
pathogens (bacteria, etc.) so that the cells then rupture and die.
b. ) HCl secretion by the stomach functions as a disinfectant
or germ killer which converts pepsinogen into pepsin. HCl also
stimulates the intestines, liver, and pancreas to digest food.
c. ) sweat secretion which is fat burning calories and serves to
train the body's resistance after activity.
4. Biology in the form of defense in organisms to protect the body
from external biological influences by recognizing and killing
pathogens.
b. Internal Defense
When the pathogen manages to pass through the defense barrier and
enter the body. This pathogen will be immediately recognized by the
internal immune system as not a part of "himself" by receptors called
TLRs (toll-like receptors). This introduction will trigger the
emergence of several responses, namely: a. phagocytic cells
Neutrophils and macrophages function to help fight
infection, while protecting it from the threat of disease and
