Hi! After reading the post, I find it more intriguing and informative, especially in relation
to how people perceive others. Indeed, I agree with the post that humans often use different
mental processes to form certain impressions of other humans. Basically, “person perception” is
the tendency to form impressions of others (Cunningham, 2019). In the context of social
psychology, there are three basic stages of perception: selection, organization, and interpretation.
These three factors have the potential to influence the judgments of people towards others, as
well as how they perceive them. Selection is the process of attending to some stimuli in our
environment and not others. It is also influenced by our personal impulses, incentives, and
motives or drives to act in a certain manner. The organization is the process of mentally
arranging stimuli into comprehensible and meaningful patterns. Interpretation is the subjective
process via which we understand and present stimuli. These three factors play a key role in a job
interview.

influence their perceptions about others. Typically, people tend to perceive others in terms of the
problems in person perceptions (halo effect, stereotyping, projecting), nature of the situation
(intelligence, attractiveness, dressing code), and the nature of the receiver (familiarity) (Cherry,
2020). Further, culture is also another factor that affects how we perceive people. I agree with
the post that cultural differences may also change the way we perceive other people due to styles
of communicating, attitudes toward conflict, the difference in decision-making, and approaches
to knowing. An interviewer is often influenced by these factors when making judgments about a
