The Total Quality Management Program
Total Quality Management is a management system in a continuous change and consisting of
values, methods and tools, the aim of each is to increase the external and internal consumer
satisfaction with a reduced amount of resources (Hellsten, U and Klefsjo, B., 2000). It’s also
viewed as an approach for improving the competitiveness, effectiveness and flexibility of a
whole organization (J.S, 1989). It’s also viewed as evolving system of practice, tools and training
methods for managing companies, to provide customer satisfaction in a rapid changing world.
The benefits of the Total Management program are relatively related to performance in the
following ways: leadership-leaders in Total Quality Management program view the firm as a
system, support employee development, and help to establish a multi point communication
among the employees, managers and customers, and use information effectively and efficiently.
Leaders in this system, encourages employees to participate in decision making and empowers
the employees. Managers should demonstrate more leadership than traditional management
behavior, so that they can increase employees awareness of quality activities in management
adaptation and practices (Criado, F., and Mora, A C. , 2009). Second is the, knowledge and
process management, this will enable management to ensure that employees obtain timely
reliable, consistent, and necessary data and information as they need to do their job effectively
in the organization. With Total Management Program, the process management emphasis on
activities, as opposed to results through a set of methodological and behavioral activities. It also
includes preventive and proactive approach, to quality management to reduce variation in the
process and increase the quality of the product.
Third is training. Total Quality Management gives necessary training to all their employees to
improve their efficiency in the task. Effective training in management and improvement in
quality bring success for the firm. Furthermore, learning organization adapts rapidly to the
chance and develops unique behavior, which distinguish them from other firms and enable them
to obtain better results (Criado, F., and Mora, A C. , 2009). With the effective training, the
employees know the industry and the structure of the organization, as a well as effective training
which improves the loyalty of the organization. Fourth, the supplier chain management, which in
Total Quality Management implies reducing and streamlining the supplies base to stimulate
managing supplier managing relationship, developing strategic alliance with suppliers, working
