Justification
Introduction
Walmart is the number one retailer worldwide, and although it does not seem as if that
title is going anywhere anytime soon, the retailer knows that it needs help in the e-commerce
department. Although the company has made vast improvements to its Walmart.com site, it still
has a long way to go if it wants to realistically compete with the likes of Amazon. The solution is
to introduce a service that compares to Amazon Prime, but offers amenities that can only come
from Walmart. Walmart Ultra is the answer to Amazon Prime, and it will set out to be the service
that can compete on the same level as the e-commerce powerhouse. The justification for this new
service will be detailed thoroughly because this service is a necessity. The rationale behind it will
be clear. The problem, which seems obvious, will be addressed by this new service which targets
everyone. Although Amazon will not be Walmart Ultra’s only competition, it is considered the
main competition. Walmart Ultra completely fits in with Walmart’s “Save Money. Live Better”
motto. Furthermore, with all of the technological innovations Walmart is introducing lately,
Walmart Ultra will take those innovations to the next level.
Rationale
E-commerce is growing at a rapid and steady pace, and although there are countless
companies that offer online shopping to consumers, there is only one company that truly seems
to dominate this market, Amazon. Amazon is the largest American Internet retailer by a large
margin with one of the most efficient logistics systems in the world (Winn, 2016, p. 195).
Despite the fact that Walmart is the number one retailer in the world, the company has yet to
firmly dominate the e-commerce market. The goal is to change the narrative when the world
