Case Summary:
Prison X requires an analysis of the current conditions pursuant to management and employee
dissatisfaction, potential mass resignations, leadership efficacy and overall conditions that exist
in the organization. The initial analysis will lead to a six-month Leadership Intervention Strategy
designed to rectify the existing conditions that are causing employee dissatisfaction and propose
and institute mitigating strategies. Initial impressions include evidence that employees feel
undercompensated, overworked, unfulfilled and under appreciated and there is evidence of a
breakdown of communication between the Warden, John Trevor and his subordinates.
Critical Issues, Needs and Challenges:
Critical to the assessment is to immediately inform all subordinates that confidential one
on one meetings with the organizational and leadership consultant will commence with the
purpose of determining the current status of the correctional facility and the specific complaints
to be addressed. Simultaneously, multiple meetings with warden John Trevor will be conducted
to determine his management style, efforts to mitigate the current situation and to get a clear
picture of his understanding of the current situation. Administrative personnel in the warden’s
office will also meet with the consultant to provide confidential context as to the extent of the
gap between the leader and his subordinates. After conclusion of these initial meetings, all
personnel will be asked to remain on the job for a to be determined length of time to allow for
the consultant to ameliorate conditions. Those employees who have already accepted or are
determined to leave their positions will be asked to give maximum notice to provide time to
bring on new temporary and permanent replacements so that security is not compromised. If the
