PEST analysis is the combination of political, economic, socio-economic, and technological factors in a
particular environment. PEST analysis helps in understanding the wider business environment of a country or an
organization and also helps in identifying future threats which enables people to come up with solutions easily.
Mexico being one of the most attractive countries naturally in the world also has its PEST analysis to help it run
its businesses in a better manner. The paper will analyze the business climate of Mexico by applying the Political,
Economic, Socio-cultural, and Technological analysis.
Political
Mexico is a presidential country with its head of state being the Head of Government and also the
president. The President is also the head commander of the Mexican Armed Forces, elected by popular vote for a
term of six years. After serving the six-year term one cannot come to power again. Also, Mexico has a significant
power and influence in global affairs and also in the region it is in. Mexico has established good diplomatic
relations with several countries in the world. The relations help it in business deals. Mexico has mostly always
tried to maintain a neutral position in the internal conflicts throughout the country’s history.
With its power, Mexico is also on a journey to be a global power by 2050. Mexico is an establishing
organ of the United Nations (UN) and it engages as an effective organ in a very large amount of forums
internationally. Additionally, Mexico has a neutral position in global conflicts historically, and is therefore
comparatively safe from international disputes outcomes. Nonetheless, corruption is a big issue in Mexico. Non-
governmental, police, governmental, judiciary, and politicians have been accused of corruption and bribery.
There are also politicians who have been accused of exploiting the government plans that are used to help the
poor to obtain political power. The corruption in Mexico has a threat both on local and global businesses it
operates in.
Economic
Mexico is a part of the G20 and is the 15
th
largest economy internationally. Its Gross Domestic Product in
