ANALYSIS OF UNIFORM CRIME REPORT DATA
STATISTICAL RELAVENCE REVIEW
The presentation of hypothetical Uniform Crime Report (UCR) statistics regarding
Murder/Non-Negligent Homicide, Forcible Rape, Robbery and Aggravated Assault were
subjected to a statistical analysis consisting of Quantitative Research Analysis
(Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2010). An analysis of “measurements regarding central
location and measurements of spread” (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2010) was not
possible due to the hypothetical nature of the data for this review. The “Mean” and the
“Median” was determined. Range and deviations were considered in the determination
of value of the data. Qualitative analysis will require further survey data and interviews
with respondents to develop meaningful adjuncts to the quantitative data set (Australian
Bureau of Statistics, 2010). The following table delineates the macro data provided for
the analysis. The simplistic data set does not allow for detailed analytical interpolation
as certain known data points are absent. However, a reasonable conclusion focusing on
additional required data collection is possible. Plotted histograms of the available data
are included to illuminate the findings in a graphical presentation.
