What nation are you fighting for?
Why did you decide to fight for your nation?
Was fighting in the war what you expected?
Are you able to effectively fight against your enemy? Why or why not?
What have you seen, heard, and smelled in the trenches?
What do you know about the enemy?
What are your goals if you make it out alive?
How are you passing the time?
What would you like to tell your family or the citizens of the nation that you are fighting for?

1)
The battle is just beginning, there is no turning back now, and both Americans and Germans on
each side are being wounded. I fear this battle will mark the beginning of a bloody end, but
encouragement from all will prevail! We will win this battle and prove to the world that what when
we say we will not stand back; they will see the truth rise from beyond. Gas was just released
because the enemy is coming near, so stopping them in their tracks was the result. If we didn’t do
anything to stop them, the enemy would have overpowered us!
2)
The battle is becoming more intense than before, and some of the soldiers are becoming less
motivated as they were at the beginning of the war. There, therefore, we have begun to pray that
self-determination increases among our soldiers so that we can all survive this bloody ordeal.
Everywhere I look, there is a dead body or severely injured soldier with a terrible smell in the air
that will just not go away from the bodies the gases have destroyed. The scent is enough to knock
anyone off their feet, almost enough for some soldiers to give up fighting because it overwhelms
your senses
3)
As time seems to be racing by with no end in sight, our men are beginning to lose faith more and
more every hour. The outcomes of this war can’t be seen but standing faithful to God and allowing
Him to lead us into victory is all we can do in hopes of seeing our family and friends soon. Aircraft
are flying over us and seem not to hear us but one, the Zeppelin, which carried us to a different
battlefield in sight while protecting us from the gruesome massacre happening below. God grants
each of us the faith to relive another day and win this battle to go home finally.
4)
A few other men and I built a trench to protect us from evil, but it has only saved a few others while
the others are dying in front of us. Although some are not being protected, its best to save as many
lives as we can in this horrific situation. The crazy part is the fear that we each feel at every
moment, can’ t sleep, eat, and even with machine guns in our hands, it is nothing to increase the
security and safety we earn to feel. What I wouldn’t do to have my mother at this moment and to
be surrounded by friends who have been there for me. I am beginning to miss my family more than
I could ever imagine.
5)
The general looking over our soldiers and me has finally come to check out the large tank that has
been witnessed over towards the east of the battlefield. He explained that we had to go to the
older trench that was built because the tank would end up destroying the one, we are in. However,
I was thinking, “well, how would we get over there and be protected from the gunfire going on?
The general told us to use the underwater submarine so that we wouldn’t be seen. This shall be
interesting, but I fear the soldiers and myself may not return to land. The machine guns are in the
distance. You can’t help but hear them thinking they are coming near.
