In this paper, I interviewed a Marketing Manager at S&P Global, Pittsburgh. Due to my
interest in the marketing sector, I wanted to know how he was performing his duties and how he
got a promotion. Further, he gave a piece of advice to pursue a career in the field of marketing.
How did this person enter the field and succeeded in it? What were some of the ups, downs,
and lessons learned along the way?
From the start of his education, the interviewee was passionate about marketing; hence he
took it as a major during his study. Further, he entered into the practical field when there was a
job fair at the university. Therefore, he got a chance to appear in the interview of Assistant
Manager Marketing at S&P Global and got selected. By the time he entered into the company, he
was unaware of the operation in the company; however, he worked hard and maintain a cordial
relationship with staff and executives to become successful. Some of the ups and downs that he
faced are the transfer and moral degradation of the staff during the high season. However, the
key to a successful career is consistency, hard work, devotion, and determination.

make the interviewee very irritating.
What type of strategic communications work does this person enjoy the most? Why? What
knowledge and skills does it require?
The interviewee liked to use community relations communications strategies because his
affiliation with clients is based upon the communities. So, the person favored the community
relations strategy to engage the client effectively. The knowledge and skill required for such
strategic communication is interpersonal communication and knowledge of organizational
culture and policies.
What types of writing do they do in an average week? What knowledge and skills does it
require? How did this person become proficient at writing?
The interviewee used to do content writing to engage more customers. The knowledge
and skills required for content writing is research skill, grammar skills, knowledge of Google
Adwords, and keywords to engage targeted customers. For instance, keyword search is very
important for a marketing manager that will help him to engage more customers based on their
search result. The reason behind the proficiency in writing was practicing and learning as he
believed that practice makes a man perfect.
