Epilepsy and its role in psychology, science, and religion

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder whereby brain activities become unusual, causing

periods of abnormality, loss of awareness, and sensations. Any person can develop epilepsy. The

effects of the disorder, like seizures, are the most influential to people (Falco-Walter et al. 73).

Epilepsy will try to respond to people's psychology as well as their beliefs. This paper focuses on

the role of epilepsy as a neurological disorder to human psychology, science, and religion.

First, epilepsy is a disorder that connects to human thinking behaviors. The connection

between human psychology and epilepsy is of great measure. Epilepsy can create a wide range of

difficulties in cognition and adaptive social functioning (Packer 30). Moreover, the disorder can

be directly related to the psychiatric status of an individual. Epilepsy has been seen as a

significant player in controlling the emotions of people. Many individuals with the disease have

had problems making decisions which is the multiple perspectives concerning human

psychology. People with epilepsy might experience difficulties in their development activities as

well as in cognitive processes. The disorder is a significant player in affecting how people think

and behaviors generated from the thoughts.

Epilepsy also brings anxiety problems to people, making them fear having another event

after the first seizure. People with the disease might experience social isolation or rejection,

bringing the symptoms of anxiety. Due to the disorder's effects, many psychological foundations

have been working hard in making sure that people with epilepsy get medical attention before

the development of anxiety, which is the leading cause of mental illness. Psychotherapy and

counseling have also played a significant role in controlling pressure, reducing the epilepsy

levels in one's body. Behavioral therapy has also caused alteration of anxiety early stages, which

significantly contributes to epilepsy.

Brain activity abnormality also has relations to behavioral issues. When one suffers from

epilepsy, they might experience restrictions from activities forcing them to have specific

behaviors. The other behavioral problems associated with epilepsy include stress, frustration, and

fear. The issues are caused mainly by the inability of the brain to control emotions. Due to the

development of such problems, people have been advised not to get involved in some activities.

The seizures can contribute to unwanted fatalities. Such activities include driving and

encouraging regular sleep cycles. Alcoholism is also a critical factor that might lead to people

having seizures, resulting in the feeling of independence loss. Anti-seizures medication has been

given to patients in controlling the bad behavioral symptoms associated with epilepsy. Epilepsy

shows some behaviors which associate with mental illness problems. People have prioritized

making sure that mental illness is addressed by using various ways so that behaviors are not

affected.

Cases of cognitive disorders are also related to epilepsy. The most cognitive complaints in

adults with epilepsy are attention problems. People with epilepsy experience problems associated
