PROJECT-2 Making enquiries from wholesalers and retailers to study and report on the channels of distribution of selected products. MEANING OF TRADE: Define Trade? Trade refers to the buying and selling of goods and services with the objective of earning profit. Trade is also called goods exchange economy. This means to transfer the ownership of goods from one person or entity to another by getting a product or service in exchange from the buyer. Trade is sometimes loosely called commerce or financial transaction or barter. A network that allows trade is called a market. Trade is classified into two categories: • Internal Trade • External Trade Internal Trade: Internal trade is also known as Domestic trade or home trade. Internal Trade is the exchange of domestic goods within the boundaries of a country. It can be at local level, regional level or national level. This may be sub-divided into two categories: • Wholesalers • Retailers WHOLESALERS: Wholesalers are one of the important middlemen I the channels of distributions who deals with the goods in bulk quantity. They buy goods in bulk from the producers and sell them in relatively smaller quantities to the retailers. In some cases, they also sell goods directly to the consumers if the quality to be purchased is more. Wholesale trade is undertaken by wholesale merchants or wholesale commission agents.
