2 Abstract The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in various responses throughout the world. This qualitative research utilises thematic analysis to analyse one news article reporting on the introduction in England of mandatory vaccines for care home workers. The thematic analysis resulted in the creation three themes from which three phenomena were identified. The phenomena of vaccine hesitancy, persuasion and conspiracy beliefs were analysed with the aim of understanding them through social psychology theories. 3 Study Aim and Method of Analysis The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in various responses throughout the world. This assignment aims to analyse one specific response and research how any resulting phenomena can be understood by Social Psychology theories. The rationale for this report is to provide an opportunity to apply a qualitative research approach to a news article regarding a national response to the Covid-19 crisis. The chosen news article relates to a response by the UK Government regarding the introduction in England of compulsory Covid-19 vaccinations for all care home staff, except those who have specific reasons to be exempt. To analyse the content of the news article the qualitative approach of thematic analysis (TA) was selected.
