I agree. Body language says a lot. You can get a feeling of how the person really feels about
what you are talking about by how they react or their facial expressions or how they hold
themselves.
PARTICIPATION:
I could not agree more when you stated that body language says a lot. Body language refers to
those gestures and movements that someone can make with his or her body, which convey
information about her or his mood, feelings or attitude. However, too often I experienced
problems with miscommunication that were created by a misinterpretation of one of my smiles,
looks, or gestures. I have also noticed that sometimes other people deliberately manipulate their
body language to mislead me. Body language is so subjective that it is uncertain if
miscommunication can be avoid as some people may not even realize that they are
communicating language with their body while others have a difficult time interpreting people’s
body language.
STUDENT:
Email is a necessity with the growth of global organizations and telecommuting employees.
Companies, as well as schools, should put more emphasis in training proper email
communication. There is technology out there that can provide that face-to-face contact such as
video and web conferencing, multi-party telephone meetings, etc. for the telecommuters and
satellite offices.
PARTICIPATION:
Nowadays several training managers and HR staff are able to conduct new employee training by
using the apprenticeship and E-learning methods. Emerald Group, in their journal “development
and learning in organizations”, focused on American businesses (i.e. IBM) that are using online

training and development instead of traditional face-to-face ones. IBM employees are able to
access to crucial information when they need it and at their conveniences. E-learning provides
employers with valuable information regarding their employees. In particular E-learning systems
allow employers to “see the record of their learning achievements what their current
development needs are and they also have a chance to network with peers across the business”
(Emerald Group, 2007, p. 23).
