Ethical issues involved in the situation
The supervision process in counseling can be complicated, with possible ethical issues
arising because there are several entities involved. Clinical supervision plays a vital role for the
counselor (supervisee) to effectively meet their counseling goals. The counselor needs to comply
with the government policy and legislation relevant to school counseling to efficiently meet the
specific needs of their clients. The supervisor also has to comply with the established supervision
rules in counseling as expected in their role. Several ethical issues are involved in the situation
presented in this case.
Ethical issues involved in the situation
The first ethical issue is concerning the legal and ethical obligation of the supervisor in
ensuring that the supervisee meets the needs of the clients they represent. The supervisor is
legally and ethically responsible for ensuring that the supervisee is well trained and educated to
be equipped with the proper knowledge and skills to meet the counseling needs of their clients
(ACA, 2014). Adequate supervision on the supervisor's part is necessary to ensure that quality
care gets delivered to the clients by the supervisee. This includes ensuring that the
documentation they make is appropriate and sufficient to achi9ve the desired supervision goals. I
think the documentation that the supervisor has presented is not sufficient, and for me to change
the situation for the better, I have to consider several options.
Options on how to proceed
The first option I have concerning how to proceed would be to talk to the supervisor and
address the concerns I have about documentation. With proper communication then it becomes
easier for the necessary adjustments to be made. If this option does not generate the expected
