My first topic is that the government should spend more money on developing high-speed rail
lines and less on building new roads. I would argue that spending more on high-speed rail lines
will reduce the number of people using vehicles hence less pollution. My experience with this
topic is that I have seen the number of new cars continue to increase in the country. With that, I
have seen an increase in the levels of air pollution. Building more cars would mean that the
number will continue to increase and that air pollution would also increase. On the other side,
having more high-speed rail lines would enable more people to move from one play to the other
much faster. It would also mean that fewer people will use vehicles hence reducing levels of air
pollution. My audience is quite familiar with this topic. They already know that more cars mean
a lot of pollution be it noise or air pollution. They also understand the importance of increasing
the number of high-speed rail lines. Experts say that more high-speed rail lines would reduce the
American culture of driving. They also argue that promoting the use of high-speed rail lines
would facilitate the fast movement of people. Experts further argue that with the growth in
technology, it would be convenient for people to utilize the use of this mode of transport. Finally,
different specialists in this area argue that high-speed rail lines will promote fast movement of
people from one place to the other with less energy consumption. It is because traveling by train
means that they would not use dozens of cars which would have contributed to a lot of pollution.

My second topic is that guards in all schools be equipped with guns to protect students. My
argument on this topic is that equipping guards in schools with guns would help protect students
from the frequent killings we are seeing in schools. I also argue that this would help prevent
individuals from entering schools with unauthorized guns. What I know is that there have been a
lot of mass shootings in public schools. This has resulted in the death of many innocent students.
What I also know is that majority if not all schools do not equip their guards with guns. This
makes it easy for a person to pass with guards or even attack and shoot innocent individuals in
schools. I have a family friend whose one of their sons was shot in such incidents. Although the
child did not receive severe injuries, the trauma from this experience was immense. My audience
