What does the term noise mean in marketing? With so much advertising noise in the marketplace, how can a
company ensure its message is heard?
The term noise in marketing is used to describe any “communication
strategy that can get the attention of the target market to the product
or service being marketed or sold”. This includes any from of
advertising, such as TV commercials, media ads, ECT. Noise in
marketing can become overwhelming. One of the ways to ensure that
the message of a product is heard over the noise is to ensure that the
product or service being advertised meets the exceptions that are set
out. Products or services that miss represent them get noticed for the
wrong reasons, where products or services that meet or exceed
expectations rise above the noise. Another factor that comes in to
play in making your product or service advertising rise above the
noise is to ensure that the advertising is aimed at the right audience.
This requires a good understanding of whom your target market is,
and requires a e&ective research plan.
