Big data in healthcare refers to large amounts of cluttered data used to analyze daily
healthcare activities and make informative decisions in the medical sector. Big data in the
clinical healthcare system is essential because of the advantage of being informative. Some
diseases pose a significant threat to people's health; therefore, big data provides the information
that will provide the strategies to curb the threats. The information that big data provides is
essential in changing failing healthcare systems into better quality working systems. The new
systems become more successful in delivering better healthcare services to people seeking help.
Big data contains information that assesses the performance of nurses in providing quality
medical services. An example of information in big data about research is the management of
edema in congestive heart failure.
The challenge that exists in healthcare's Big data is the lack of uniformity and data
fragmentation. Data is not organized digitally, so the accessibility of specific information
becomes difficult for the healthcare provider to retrieve. For example, in big data of research,
data from the human resource person in the hospital and patient files can be too much data to
analyze and get the specific information needed. A patient might require quick review due to
some risk changes occurring to him personally; therefore, a nurse might overlook the situation
(Thew, 2016). Ignoring some information is why big data is at the risk of posing a danger to
patients because some essential data is ignored.
The risks that big data pose are challenging and need to be addressed. Data fragmentation
can be managed by ensuring that the big data is arranged according to the specific needs and
purpose. Detailed data retrieving can be made more accessible by digitizing big data to have
