Article Review on Pollution Prevention and Pollution Prevention Act
The article reviewed was to identify if the adoption of techniques used to prevent
pollution would help reduce or substitute pollutionprevention of pollution, whether air or
water pollution, is very important to the US environmental policy. The environmental policy
promotes the prevention of pollution at the source rather than recycling waste. When waste is
prevented at the source, further generation of waste is avoided. The article mainly explains ways
to prevent pollution and the adoption of laws from the pollution prevention Act.
Pollution prevention act of 1990 aimed at reducing waste at the source (Burnett, M, L,
1998). Though it is a good method of reducing pollution in the environment, some wastes
cannot be identified or reduced in the beginning. Recycling or reusing waste is the next option.
Some waste need not be disposed of as it can still be put into use. Most manufacturing
companies are advised to adopt this method of waste disposal. Manufacturing companies can
recycle some of their waste and use it as raw materials for other products. Another aspect of the
Pollution Prevention Act is the treatment of waste. Waste that cannot be reduced at the source or
recycled is then treatedtreated waste. The last option is releasing the waste. This is after all the
stages. The waste released to the environment is less, and pollution will be reduced.
The PPA provided the public with more information about the company's waste
management. The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) (was expanded by the PPA so that more
information and reports on pollution prevention and the adoption of pollution prevention
techniques could be added. It was meant to motivate polluters of the environment to reduce the
release of toxic waste Pollution Prevention techniques are very important since it reduces
pollution.
