The corporate world's dynamic state has subjected organizations to substantial challenges,
particularly within the internal teams, with different stakeholders having conflicting opinions
regarding the change processes (Birema, 2020). In the event of such challenges, organizations
must draft prompt resolutions to address them in a bid to enhance their feasibility. While the
challenges are resolved internally by the management team in most cases, there are times when
an Organizational Development (OD) consultant is required. An OD consultant is a professional
who is hired by organizations to formulate strategies that are instrumental in enhancing
proficiency and organizational productivity without adversely affecting the workforce. An OD
consultant can either be obtained internally or externally. Different levels of organizational
change and challenges necessitate various interventions. The OD consultant is therefore required
to select an intervention that aligns with the needs of an organization. This paper addresses the
organizational issues facing Blaze Mining Company and the OD consultant's role in the selection
and implementation of the best-suited interventions.
Section One
Blaze Mining is a family-owned oil and mining company that is based in Louisiana.
Over the past decade, the organization's leadership has been faced with significant challenges
due to a lack of cohesiveness among the internal teams. This factor has significantly impeded the
scalability of the company. The new-appointed CEO believes that the leadership team's discord
has caused the non-cooperation among the internal teams. Thus, it feels there is a need for an
appropriate and timely intervention to resolve the issue. Otherwise, the company may not
survive. The CEO, therefore, hires an OD consultant to build coherence within the leadership
team.
