APPLICATION OF NEUROSCIENCE AND INTERPERSONAL NEUROBIOLOGY
INTRODUCTION OF THE CLIENT
Neuroscience psychology is the study of how chemical and biological processes make the
nervous system and the brain to work. In this case study, we have a client by the name Susan;
she has come to seek some psychosocial support. Susan’s mother often belittled her. She got into
trouble on several occasions for not paying attention. Her father was a source of inspiration and
would often tutor her, but this never lasted as the dad died of a heart attack.
Susan, who is now in her late 50's, suffers from anxiety and low self-esteem when she's
around people; this is due to her broken relationships. She often isolates herself, yet she wants to
have friends, sometimes she over-functions in her few friendships that she has but ends up
disappointed. Susan is a sluggish lady (she is lethargic). Our client is seeking psychosocial
support. This case study will analyze the social, neurological, spiritual, and physical support for
Susan's situation.
CASE CONCEPTUALIZATION OF SUSAN
In this section, we will try to breakdown the situation at hand into psychological and
neuroscience perspectives. We begin by understanding the meaning of psychology; it is the study
of how the human brain reacts to a different situation. The environment upon which our client
has grown is evidence that they have adversely affected her feelings and approach to various
issues; for example, she chooses to isolate herself from the rest, the act of isolation can be an
indication that she needs to break away from it. In our case study, we will elaborate on the five
main psychological perspectives: behavioral, biological, humanistic, cognitive, and
psychodynamic.
