ABSTRACT
To find the acceleration of cart down the air track.
The activity is to give students a practical experience and establish understanding between position,
velocity and acceleration.
The calculation to be done in round off figures. Logger pro has been used to make graphs and doing
linear fits to data and capstone to fit data. The units taken for x and y are in kilograms and volts
respectively.
For fits, standard deviation as certainty has been used including parenthesis, the +- symbol and units.
Motion sensor, computer, wooden block, black reflector and strong signal have been used to yield good
result.
The correlation coefficient 'r' tells us the quality of our fit and traditional classroom interpretation is the
decimal r² is how much of y-value is determined by x-value of data point. The left over difference 1-r² is
randomness of y- value.
The cart was freely accelerating and fit a line for both position and velocity with time.
Finally, we have successfully understood to established linear relationship between time, position and
velocity measuring the values correlation coefficient r and final answers in rounded form.
