Hi,
The answer to Question number 12 in Section 2.2 for
Linear Algebra and Differential Equations by Peterson
Sochacki is not properly explained. Could you please
elaborate how we can find the if a 2X2 matrix is the span
of other 2X2 matrices.
Thanks,
Solution
We will check whether any c1,c2,c3 exists for c1A + c2B +
c3C = D
where A,B,C,D are matrices
If any values c1,c2,c3 exists then D is in span of others
In the solution given by chegg, for finding c1,c2,c3
,determinant is taken, it is wrong.
We have to take like
c1+c2+c3=3
c1+c2=5
c2=3
c1-c3=4
