Managing and Organizing Qualitative Data

The two strategies that would assist a researcher to manage and organize data are

organizing or combining the related themes into the major categories and creating the standard

operating procedures for the transformation of the raw data into the useful information (White,

Oelke, & Friesen, 2012). Organizing or combining related themes necessitate labeling the

categories and creating a file for every major category. The researcher needs to separate the data

into groups, themes, and patterns as well as categories. The research needs to set up proper codes

for the gathered data since coding is an appropriate technique to compress the huge quantity of

the information gathered (White et al., 2012).

The researcher should create a code table in order that the codes may be consistent as

well as readily accessible for the numerous researchers. The researcher needs to code the data set

based on the questions that were asked. Coding the qualitative data imply categorizing as well as

assigning the patterns and the properties to the gathered data. Coding the data helps in deriving

theories from the relevant findings of the research (White et al., 2012). The researcher needs to

assign codes to the data and start building on the patterns so as to gain a comprehensive insight

into data which assist in making informed decisions. After coding the data set, the researcher
