Liberalism and realism are theories that try to explain the nature of world politics. Realism sees
the world or instead explains the world how it is really. The main principles of realism as
explained are:
1. Politics is governed by laws that are objective and have their basis on human nature. The
principle emphasizes that society has laws and regulations that govern it, and it is
essential to understand them to have a rational theory towards international politics
(Yournoteslibrary, 2018 para. 6).
2. Nations take action of securing their national interests using power. Nations secure their
interest by using power in foreign policymakers.
3. The interest is ever dynamic. Thus, national interest changes its nature and scope
depending on the environment and the political motives, thereby influencing international
relations.
4. The theoretical moral principle can not be applied to state actions. Thus, such principles
can not define the actions of the state and its policies unless filtered through some
situations hence determining the international relations (Yournoteslibrary, 2018 para. 14).
5. The states which are the actors of national interest can not subject to moral laws.
6. Political realism has the autonomy of international politics.
Liberalism protects and enhances the rights and freedom of individuals to life, liberty, and
property as the highest goal and central point in politics by limiting and checking the political
