I\'ve been in HR for 20 years, the last 3.5 as a consultant. I
think you\'d find the MBA more useful than a masters in
HR. Many CEOs have trouble relating to HR people
because they don\'t understand the business side of
things. If you learn how a business operates, what it
worries about, what challenges it faces... you\'ll be much
better as an HR person offering suggestions.
Also, I\'ve seen a lot of HR layoffs in the past year so it

it pays to be careful and make wise decisions early on as
possible. I\'m working on a MBA and I\'ll give you some
pros and cons about the master\'s programs you\'re
looking in to. First of all, if you\'re going to get a MBA, and
being that you have an undergrad in Psychology, you\'ll
probably have a good many prerequisites you\'ll have to
take. The reason is, Psychology is a liberal arts and more
of a qualitative degree, whereas a MBA is very
quantitative. There are exceptions, but people with liberal
arts backgrounds sometimes struggle with the quantitative
material; of course if you\'re good in math that will be
great. Now, you can go into law school without taking any
additional prerequisites. You\'ll only need to have a good
GPA and do well on the LSAT, but you may already know
this. Now, I was considering law school, but the costs were
out of reach for me and I couldn\'t get enough Stafford
Loans to cover all of my expenses. I also learned that
there are more lawyers to be in law school right now about
to graduate than there are currently lawyers in practice.
There is a surplus of lawyers, and there are many a lawyer
driving cabs for a living. There is one area in law that
there\'s actually a demand for lawyers and that\'s in
International Law. Many lawyers have to work part-time
