A microprocessor has a clock cycle of 0.125ns
(a) What is the clock rate of this processor?
(b) What is the duration of a particular type of machine
instruction consisting of seven clock cycles?
Solution
A) We know that,
Clock Time = 1/(Cycle Time)
Cycle Time = 1/(Clock Time)
= 1/(0.125*10^-6)
= 10^6/0.125
Clock Rate = 10^9*[(0.125/10^6)]
= 125 Hz
B ) Clock rate * 7 = 125 *7
= 875 sec
