Week 1 DQ1
Assume you are the newly hired marketing manager of a company. As you
spend time with other peer marketing managers, you realize that the company
does not place an emphasis on planning within the marketing organization. Why
is planning important in marketing? What are the essential components of a
marketing plan? How would you convince your supervisor that the marketing
department should produce formal marketing plans?
Planning is a very important aspect of marketing. Marketing is all
about reaching a target audience. If a plan is not put in to action to
reach a target audience, the plan will fail. For example, an upscale
department store may want to market their products to high income
families who may be able to aord to shop there. If their marketing
plan is focused on lower income families, the plan may not work
because whatever goals the plan had may not be reached, such as
sales goals.
The components a marketing plan needs to have are what marketing
mix will be oered to the target market and for how long. The plan
needs to know what resources from the company will be needed to put
the plan into eect and for how long. It also needs to have an idea of
what the outcome should be. These components will help marketing
managers reach their desired goals. They will lead managers through
each step in order to help them succeed.
I would suggest to my superior that marketing plans are important and
should be used when reaching consumers. Marketing plans help a
company focus on what is important to consumers and what it is they
are looking for. The plan should show what target audience needs to
be reached for better sales. Customers who are pleased with
the experience of a business will come back. Marketing plans make
good business happen.
