outline, I will create a marketing plan for Sensation Shampoo, a product I have developed, which
will include a description of the product, an analysis of the market including size, demographics,
and competitors, and an analysis of marketing strategies including pricing, promoting,
distribution, and sales support.
I. Description of Sensation Shampoo
The new product “Sensation Shampoo” is for both males and females. The product is
available in different packs like sachets and bottles. The shampoo has all the nutrients like
proteins, vitamins and other organic essentials for improving the hair quality. The shampoo
will improve the shining as well as growth of the hair. The shampoo does not have any side
effects on the skin or hair; hypoallergenic and tear free. The added bonus is the tingling
sensation on the scalp. Thus, it is a perfect product for Proctor & Gamble to introduce in the
market.
II. Market Analysis
The company has to select a target market for this new product. The selected market for
this shampoo is the middle class market of US. As the shampoo is for shiny and silky hair, the
youth from the middle class will be focused more by the company. The reason for the
selection of such market is that the shampoo is in the price range of them and have all the
qualities preferred by the youth.
“Marketers select a target marketing strategy, in which they divide the total market into
different segments based on customer characteristics, select one or more segments, and
develop products to meet the needs of those specific segments;” this is known as segmentation
(Solomon, et al., 2008, p.204). Demographic segmentation is a common segmentation strategy
marketers use. Segmentation is essentially the identification of subsets of buyers within a
