Organizational behavior is the aspect understanding the behavior of employees in an
organization. There are factors which determine the behavior of people in an organization based
on the distribution, composition and diversity of employees. Studying the behavior of groups,
structures and individuals help to apply the knowledge towards making the effectiveness of
employees impactful in the organization. This is usually based on applying various study
mechanisms by using communication, management, psychology and sociology (Ranganayakulu,
2005). It needs an all rounded understanding of the nature of man and factors that influence their
behavior.
Organizations differ in their forms of settings and environment surrounding the
employees. Therefore, studying an organizational behavior encompasses various perspectives
which provide the best viewpoint for analysis (Luthans 2005). The methods of studying an
organization also differ in the methods used as well. This study also makes reference to other
forms of viewpoints such as symbolic, postmodern and modern. In a working environment where
people interact a lot of things come into play. A micro - organization form of organizational
behavior is used to refer to a group and personal dynamics in an organization setting. Macro-
organization on the other hand is a theory that studies an organizational behavior on a much

wider perspective. It goes further to study the whole industry based on the way it’s adapted, the
structures and strategies which provide a guide. These two theories make it easy to understand
the factors that contribute to a certain form of behavior in any organizational setting. The
development, satisfaction, commitment and performance of an organization is purely based on
the behavior in a particular organization.
The process of studying organization behavior is based on various methods which give an
overview of various things affecting the behavior of people in an organization. Computer
simulation is one of the methods used to study organizational behavior. This method basically
deals with studying the behavior in an organization by focusing on the cognitive behavior of an
individual and other interpersonal skill such as working in a team. The computational method
uses certain theories by using some models in the computer to verify the applicability of the
theories. In most cases, this method basically focuses on some organization studies, chaos theory,
thermodynamics, ecology and biological models.
Theories such as organizational behavior, evaluate the individual role of a person acting
independently in an organization. Every person behaves or perceives things differently and
responds to them differently as well. In organizational behavior theory, there is the study of
models and differences among individuals in an organization. This theory basically deals with
the psychological understanding of an individual and the impact they are likely to have on the
organization. Under this theory, there is the aspect of decision making which involves the
process, reasons and aims of making a particular decision. Individuals have different processes of
making decisions in their line of work. A person will choose a particular decision based on some

factors which determine their decision process, reasons and the aim of making that particular
decision. People will make a particular decision based on reasons that might in a way favor them.
This is likely to influence the organizational behavior of employees since the decision affects
other people in the organization in one way or another.
In relation to the issue of organizational behavior as stated herein, Zappos is an
organization that has proven to be quite dynamic. Unlike the common hierarchy of most
organization, Zappos has changed its entire organization structure. They chose not to conform to
the norm of having positions such as managers and other positions that intimidate the aspect of
team work. Although it’s quite risky and tricky, this measure seems to have breathed life to the
organization entirely. The culture of organizational structure has always had a certain impact to
every individual in an organization. This impact could either be positive or negative to the
organization and an individual employee as well. Zappos is among other forms of modern
organizations that have embraced integrated job descriptions, multi- skilling, de-layering and
employee empowerment. However, even with the change of structure there are possibilities of
advantages and disadvantages as well.
Zappos is an organization that mainly focuses on customer service and culture of the
company. After replacing the traditional organizational structure with Holacracy which meant
that there would be no more managers or job titles other than self-governing. The organization
meant to be an operating whole for the benefit of every single individual. This was based on the
fact that employees or people in the organization hide under their titles to manipulate others at
times. This either leads to lack of motivation or self-drive among individuals who feel that they
there is an aspect of inequality in the organization.
