Option A:
1. ethical considerations for right sizing
Mangers are often faced with a predicament and pushed towards a tight spot when they
have to communicate the decision of downsizing to the employees. Managers are the first
people who are informed and instructed by management to carry out the process. On the
other hand mangers face trouble in being very straightforward to the effected members of
his team yet have to abide by management’s decisions. Within such situations some
mangers would beforehand inform some employees of coming situation but this act has
an unethical perspective. For instance it would give undue benefit to some employees
about the situation and also it would be unethical of a manger to disclose any confidential
information. Mangers are representatives of the employers and they are obligated to
follow them. Managers should act rationally rather emotionally under such situations and
work towards preserving the organizational security.
2. ethical considerations for political behavior
Office politics or political behavior of a workplace has their own vitality within an
organization. However, these behaviors should confine to the limits of ethical behavior
and concepts. People can easily be caught up with unethical practices; grapevines etc and
engage in activities that might hurt other employees’ professional credibility or taking
shortcuts to own success which could prove harmful for the organization. Relationship
building and maintaining a social network helps in robust career establishment but that
should not be carried out on the expense of others loss. Such situations can create stress
for others resulting in reduce productivity of the organization. Its responsibility of the
management to create a workplace environment that is stress free, healthy and promotes
team building, learning and positive attitudes from the employees.
