The Bureau of Economic Analysis, or BEA, is a U.S.
government agency that collects a wide variety of statistics
about the U.S. economy. From the BEAs home page find
data for the most recent year available on US. exports and
imports of goods and services. (Hint: look at the annual
data in an Excel file with monthly and annual data under
U.S. economic accounts/International/Trade in goods and
services). Is the United States running a trade surplus or
deficit? Explain. How did the trade balance change from
2008 to 2009? Explain
Solution
The United States of America is running a deficit decrease
in trade. The annual data of trade shows that in the month
of November 2014, there has been a decrease in trade in
goods and services to $39 billion. It was $42.2 billion in
October, 2014. The drastic fall out has created a dis-
balance in trade economies.
The change in the trade balance in 2008-2009 has
changed which was due to decrease in earnings in the
fields of logistics shown by frights and ports services.
There has been reduction in the passenger fares due to
the fall out.
